Physicians are facing increasing restrictions prescribing opioids for chronic pain patients through laws, guidlines, and insurance policies. As a result, patients with chronic pain have been unable to access opioid pain medication, or find physicians willing to treat their conditions. Critics of the new restrictions say there isn’t any strong linkage between prescription opioid rates and overdoses, and patients have been left to suffer with their untreated chronic pain.
