The Massachusetts Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program, known as MassHealth, recently announced that, effective today, it will provide coverage of prescription digital therapeutics (PDTs). PDTs are evidence-based medical interventions that use software and can be accessed on a tablet or smartphone.

The FDA has approved PDTs to prevent, manage, or treat a range of diseases and conditions, including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance use disorder, and insomnia.

The new MassHealth policy will enable program participants to access PDTs as a covered benefit.
