The Journal of Opioid Management has released a special edition on pain management and opioid misuse, titled “Legal, Legislative, and Regulatory Approaches to Reducing Opioid Use Disorder and Opioid-Involved Poisonings.” It offers peer-reviewed research, analysis, and practical policy recommendations, all aimed at improving pain management and reducing opioid use disorder and opioid-involved poisonings.
Notably, Michael Barnes, Chairman of CUSP, played a pivotal role as the special editor for this edition, which also features an article authored by Lynn R. Webster, MD, Senior Fellow of CUSP. In the article, Dr. Webster examines three recent decisions issued by the United States Supreme Court, indicating the potential for a new interpretation of provisions in the Controlled Substances Act that affect prescribers of controlled medications.
