American Medical Association (AMA) delegates expressed concern over the toll that the criminalization of medicine under the federal Controlled Substances Act is taking on physicians. During the annual AMA meeting, the American Society of Addiction Medicine introduced a resolution calling for the AMA to study the criminalization of medicine and its effects on medical practice.
The House of Delegates voted on the resolution during its general session and will issue a report on the subject, including recommendations.
