A Kentucky county sheriff has suspended all law enforcement activities due to lack of funding. They will continue to provide the services required of the Sheriffs’ office by law, however police protection is not one of those required duties. This funding slump is due in part to a decline in coal severance taxes in Eastern Kentucky.
